Character Counts

The Character Counts Program (Preschool- Gr. 9) is intentional, conscious, planned, pro-active, organized, and reflective character development. As such it promotes three learning domains:
Cognitive Objectives enhance the ability to perceive and understand the moral dimension of behavior as well as to make ethical decisions. Students should be able to:

- Define and recognize the traits and conduct associated with good character.
- Evaluate their options in terms of the principles embodied in Six Pillars of character.
- Predict and understand the likely consequences of their choices on others and themselves.

Affective objectives contain elements that inspire or reinforce a desire to be a person of character

and to do what is right. Students should develop an emotional commitment to:

- Being a good person
- Doing the right thing

Behavioral objectives contain elements that encourage appropriate behavior. The goal is for students to engage in an ethical decision making process by reflecting on their actions so that their response becomes automatically ethical.
